LANSDALE WALK RECAP
On Saturday May 13th 2017 we had our 6th annual ONE HOUR Lansdale PA Hometown Hero Walk.
Despite horrible continuous heavy rain and windy conditions we had over 500 in attendance and over 300 actually walked.
It was an inspiring sight to see so many people who came determined to walk, support our veterans and raise money to help our
ALL VOLUNTEER PA Hero Walk in its mission to help Pennsylvania veterans in need from any era of service. The Red Hill Band & the
North Penn High School Junior ROTC Air Force Cadets and Color Cadets each performed with great skill for their 6th appearance at the
Lansdale walk. The crowd was enthusiastic despite the bad weather conditions. We were again assisted by many volunteers of our
host Trinity Lutheran Church, including many members of the newly formed Trinity Lutheran Church Veterans' Ministry. The highlight
of the day was when we presented a beautiful patriotic quilt made by church member and longtime volunteer for the PA Hero Walk,
Ellen Allen, to World War II combat veteran Mr. William Reed. Mr. Reed, a native of New Kensington, PA who was severely injured
while serving with the US Army in Germany in 1944 was an inspiration to us all. We have raised over $42,000 locally mainly from the
sale of close to 800 walk tee shirts and of the great support of over 88 sponsors, including individuals, businesses, organizations
and veterans groups. All in all a very successful day in furthering the mission of the PA Hero Walk and in bringing respect and
honor to all our veterans who have so nobly served.

A Change in the PA Hero Walk Philosophy
Since the first PA Hero Walk in 2009, the group has raised and given the Wounded Warrior
Project hundreds of thousands of dollars and have helped many veterans with their efforts. In
the winter of 2013 the group decided to make a change in 2014 and dedicate their fundraising
efforts to focus on Pennsylvania veterans from all branches and from all eras. Since this
change the group has has received unanimous accolades for their
decision to keep the money raised in Pennsylvania to help Pennsylvania veterans.
The PA Hero Walk has rasied over $1.8 Million to date for our veterans.
The group continues to emphasize helping individual
veterans that need help in the following areas listed below.
- CAR AND HOME REPAIR
- APPLIANCE PUCHASE OR REPAIR
- UTLITY PAYMENTS
- AUTO PURCHASE
If you know of a Pennsylvania veteran in need of help, please refer them to their County Veterans Affairs Director or our website at
Al Pulice, in conjunction with the Kiski Valley Veterans and Patriots Association (KVVPA), founded and created the PA Hero Walk and you can contact Al
